Spirit Airlines sometimes provides travelers with a meal voucher if they experience a delay or a missed connecting flight. Depending on how your Spirit meal voucher was issued, it may contain a QR code and/or credit card number, CCV, and zip code to use just like a credit card. While they are similar, they do not work anywhere and you can’t swipe or tap them like a physical card. Spirit Airlines meal vouchers are intended to work at the airport.
Where can Spirit meal vouchers be used?
Spirit meal vouchers can be used at most airport restaurants, for food and non-alcoholic beverages. Your meal voucher should work at the following restaurants:
- Auntie Anne’s
- Burger King
- California Pizza Kitchen
- Jamba Juice
- Jersey Mike’s Subs
- Jimmy John’s
- Pei Wei
- The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf
- The Great American Bagel
- Villa Fresh Italian Kitchen
Most sit-down restaurants also accept Spirit Airlines meal vouchers, but be sure to ask the host if they accept them before being seated.
Can Spirit meal vouchers be used outside the airport?
Spirit meal vouchers are not intended to be used outside of the airport, however, many customers find success loading them into a food vendor’s mobile app (like Starbucks or Chick-fil-A). This is helpful to know because meal voucher funds expire on the stated “Redeem By” date at midnight Eastern time zone.
How To Add Spirit Meal Voucher to Starbucks App
While not officially supported, many people find success loading their meal vouchers into the Starbucks mobile app, which allows them to use it later (outside of the airport).
- Open the Starbucks app on your phone
- Tap add funds
- Select your meal voucher amount (such as $15)
- Add a new payment method
- Enter your Spirit meal voucher payment info
