Hotel Indigo New Orleans French Quarter is close to the action and charm of what the City of New Orleans is best known for. Remodeled in 2022, this IHG property is a contemporary boutique hotel with a 1920’s ambiance, located one block from the French Quarter. The hotel has 143 rooms, including nine with balconies overlooking St. Charles and Common Street.
Booking My Stay at Hotel Indigo French Quarter
I booked my stay directly at IHG.com and paid 120,000 points for a four-night stay. This comes out to 30,000 points per night when you factor in IHG’s Fourth Night Free promotion for reward stays. I earned these points by signing up for the IHG Business Credit Card earlier this year. This card comes with automatic Platinum Elite status as well, which came in handy for our trip.
Hotel Indigo French Quarter Location & Parking
As I said earlier, Hotel Indigo is close to the action of the French Quarter and Bourbon Street — but not directly there (which is what drew me to the hotel). I appreciate a quiet place to sleep! This was my first time in New Orleans and I’m glad we chose this location as the French Quarter is lively, especially at night. Canal Street separates the hotel from the craziness of the French Quarter, and it short walk to the heart of Bourbon Street (about 5 minutes).
The hotel only offers valet parking ($43 per night). Self-parking is not available, though you may be able to find street parking or a garage nearby.
Hotel Indigo French Quarter Lobby & Check-In
Hotel Indigo French Quarter captures the charm of New Orleans, and you notice that as soon as you walk in. The first floor of the hotel is an open concept with the hotel restaurant, Common Interest, located close to the front desk.
Before arrival, we noticed we were upgraded to a balcony room on the IHG App. This is a perk of Platinum status, which I have thanks to my IHG Business Credit Card.
King Room with Balcony at Hotel Indigo French Quarter
I originally booked a standard King Room but noticed in the IHG App that we were upgraded to a King Room with Balcony before arrival. This is a perk of Platinum status, which I have thanks to my IHG Business Credit Card.
While our room had an impressive amount of space (525 SqFt), the balcony impressed me more! This may have been because we had the corner unit – but it was huge! – so YMMV. I will say the room layout was a bit strange (lots of empty space) and the shower was odd but I think we were in an Accessible room so it was probably designed that way.
Dining at Hotel Indigo New Orleans French Quarter
The hotel’s restaurant, Common Interest, is located on the first floor and serves Cajun food, including gumbo and jambalaya. Common Interest also has a full bar, serves breakfast in the morning, and their menu is also available for room service.
The hotel offers a welcome gift of points or drink vouchers to Platinum and Diamond elite members. We chose the drink vouchers and enjoyed a cocktail each evening at the bar. The bartenders were great!
Amenities at Hotel Indigo New Orleans French Quarter
Hotel Indigo New Orleans French Quarter is a boutique hotel, so outside of the essentials, there isn’t much offered as extra amenities. The hotel does have a fitness center on the 2nd floor. It has treadmills, an elliptical, weight machines, and free weights.
We enjoyed our time at Hotel Indigo New Orleans French Quarter and would love to return one day! From the friendly bartenders to the spacious balcony, we felt at home throughout our stay and were able to relax. I liked the location of the hotel. It was close to everything but not directly in the chaos of Bourbon Street. There were dozens of great restaurants nearby and the neighborhood is walkable. I highly recommend this hotel if you’re considering it for your trip to New Orleans.
