Review of Hilton Bogota

Hotel Review: Hilton in Bogota, Colombia

You need to visit Bogota, Colombia! It is beautiful, and so is Hilton Bogota, located downtown in the financial district, and within walking distance to Zona Rosa, Zona G, and Zona T.

Booking the room

Like usual, I booked my stay at Hilton Bogota directly on Hilton’s website. While I didn’t have elite status during my stay, booking direct does guarantee you’ll receive your elite benefits during your stay. Gold and Diamond members will likely score an upgrade to an Executive Room or Suite as this is a pretty large hotel.

Checking in to Hilton Bogota

Hilton Bogota is about 30 minutes from the El Dorado International Airport (BOG). I used Uber to get a ride there, but quickly learned Uber is illegal in Colombia. My Uber driver was nervous about picking me up at the airport, so I had to walk to the parking lot to meet at her car.

While there was somewhat of a language barrier, it wasn’t difficult checking in to my room at Hilton Bogota. Since it is a Hilton property, it accepted common American credit cards (though I did experience card acceptance issues elsewhere in Bogota).

I was on a high floor facing Colombia’s iconic Andes mountain ranges.

La Ventana Restaurant

It was great having La Ventana, Colombian-style restaurant at the hotel, especially since this was my first international trip traveling solo.

I should have brushed up on my English before going to South America, but Google Translate was really helpful while dining. I simply opened the app, and could translate in real-time using the camera feature.

I enjoyed a five-course meal one of the nights and I was impressed! The chef made the plates pop with color, and the grilled octopus was fantastic.

Overall Impression

I recommend Hilton Bogota, especially if it is your first time in Colombia. It was in a great location, the rooms were nice, and the price didn’t break the bank. If you have Hilton HHonors Gold or Diamond status, you have a good chance at scoring an upgrade, especially on the weekends as the property is in the financial district.
